Shihang Zeng

Biostatistics

Shihang earned his Master of Science degree in Biostatistics from the Columbia Mailman School of Public Health. He is currently working as a Research Assistant with Dr. Daniel Belsky and Dr. Calen Ryan on the CALERIE project, a clinical trial in healthy adults designed to test whether long-term calorie restriction influences DNA methylation, gene expression, and organ-system functioning as markers of biological aging.
With a background in biology and pharmaceutical sciences, Shihang’s research interests center on the interface of clinical trial design and analysis, health data science, and statistical genetics. He is particularly interested in developing methods to evaluate biomarkers and surrogate endpoints in clinical trials, and in building models for complex longitudinal or time-to-event data—especially in the context of neurodegenerative diseases and the biological aging process, which involve intricate mechanisms and substantial unmet clinical need.
Outside of work, Shihang enjoys badminton, photography, and playing billiards.
