Jongyun Jung

Jongyun is a biomedical data scientist and computational biologist specializing in the application of deep sequence models to understand biological aging and musculoskeletal health. He works with high-throughput multi-omics data from massive, longitudinal population and clinical datasets to answer fundamental questions about how our biological systems degrade over time, and how we can mathematically track those trajectories to help us age better.

Jongyun’s overarching research goal is to use advanced artificial intelligence frameworks to inform precision medicine and structural geroscience by characterizing the latent pathways of systemic aging. He is most interested in biological aging clocks, cytoskeletal degradation pathways, and auditing clinical risk scores for health equity, which are core concepts in next-generation preventive care.

Jongyun earned his PhD in Biomedical Science within the Biomedical Informatics track at The Ohio State University. He also holds an MS in Mathematics and Statistics. He is currently transitioning to a Postdoctoral Research Scientist role at the Columbia Aging Center, working with Dr. Daniel W. Belsky.
